About Me

Hi! My name is Vanessa. I was born in Santa Cruz, did preschool in San Diego and completed grades K-12 in a little town next to Fresno called Madera. I have a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing from UC Riverside and I just received my multiple subject teaching credential from Cal Poly Pomona this summer. I love sushi, cats, writing, volleyball and crafting.

I love technology! ...most of the time...when it's not giving me headaches. I wake up and take ten minutes to check my e-mail, Facebook, LA Times, Twitter and Instagram Apps (in that order) before I even get out of bed. I feel so lost whenever I'm without my phone or computer, but really, I'm just lost without the internet! The phone and computer are both just tools that keep me connected to it. I have a PC and know very little about Macs, so that is something I'm hoping to become more well-versed in. I manage a blog and a joint YouTube channel about Black hair that makes me some extra spending money while hopefully helping other  gals out. I also like to create digital art by blending my amateur photography with photoshop editing. So clearly, I use technology all the time, everyday.

I decided to get my Masters of Educational Multimedia because I really want to become more knowledgable in technology. (That was a mouthful.) Technology is a great way to keep kids engaged in the classroom. In addition, technology is NOT GOING ANYWHERE. As cliche as it sounds, it IS the future, and more specifically, the future of education. More and more schools are incorporating iPads, online platforms etc. into the classroom. By the end of this program, I want to be able to honestly say that I am better prepared for such an environment than I was in the beginning.

  1. Only 10 minutes in the morning? Try 40 minutes! (lol) I'm certainty not a morning person.
